To say we are shocked would be an understatement. We are devestated to learn that our PL1 Association Player – Dan Elkayam – was tragically and senselessly killed in the Bondi Beach massacre.
Dan – a 27 year old Frenchman of Jewish faith – lived with his girlfriend in the Eastern Suburbs. He loved the Australian way of life.
His passion for football brought him to Rockdale Ilinden where he joined our Association Premier League 1 side – as an extremely talented midfield player.
Those who were closest to him described him as a down to earth, happy go lucky individual who was warmly embraced by those he met.
Football was his passion – together with spending time on the beach and socialising with friends.
Dan was employed and looking to create a life in Australia.
His smiling face and respectful nature will be sorely missed by his team mates and everyone that knew him.
We pray for him and for his family.
