Maso Cup 2017

MASO CUP 2017 GROUPS | The groups for the 2017 Maso Cup have been finalised. 3 groups of 4 Clubs make up the Open Men’s Division, while 7 Clubs make up 1 group in Over 35s Division and 4 Clubs make up 1 group in the Youth Division.

The tournament will kick off simultaneously at Ilinden Sports Centre and Jensen Park on Friday 27th January, with Bankstown City FC hosting the majority of the Group Stage fixtures at Jensen Park on the Saturday and Rockdale hosting the finals at Ilinden Sports Centre on Sunday 29th January.

In the Open Men’s Division, Group A – defending champions Rockdale City Suns Football Club – Ilinden have been grouped with Preston Lions Football Club, Yagoona Lions Football Club andNewcastle Suns Football Club.

In Group B, tournament co-hosts Bankstown City FC have been grouped with Wollongong United FC,Sydenham Park Soccer Club and Arncliffe Scots FC.

In Group C, Altona Magic Soccer Club have been grouped with Broadmeadow Magic FC, Cringila Lions Football Club 1968 and Queanbeyan City FC.

The top 2 teams of each group along with the 2 best-ranked 3rd placed teams will make up an 8 team Quarter Final on Sunday at Ilinden Sports Centre, followed by the Semi-Finals and Cup Final to be played later that afternoon.

In the Over 35s Competition, we’ll see tournament newcomers Lalor Utd Sloga F.C make their first appearance in the Maso Cup along with Sunshine Lions FC who will make their first Over 35s appearance, along with Rockdale City Suns Football Club – Ilinden, Bankstown City FC,Yagoona Lions Football Club, Arncliffe Scots FCand Newcastle Suns Football Club. The top 4 placed teams will progress to a Semi Final to be played on Sunday followed by the Cup Final.

In the U19s Youth tournament, Rockdale City Suns Football Club – Ilinden will take on Bankstown City FC, Yagoona Lions Football Club and Wollongong United FC in what will be the first installment of this division. One that we hope will grow in future years. The top 2 teams after the group stages will contest the Cup Final on Sunday.

MASO CUP DRAW | The draw has now been finalised for the 2017 Maso Cup. The major new development is that the Women’s Tournament will now go ahead, with Altona Magic Soccer Club‘s women heading up to face Bankstown City FC‘s women for the final Women’s Cup, and the possibility of more women’s teams to be added over the next few days.

In the other divisions, the tournament will commence at both Jensen Park and Ilinden Sports Centre on Friday 27th January with 3 matches taking place at each venue and as always, FREE ENTRY at both venues on the Friday Night. The majority of the group fixtures take place at Jensen Park on Saturday 28th, and the finals of all divisions taking place at Ilinden Sports Centre on Sunday 29th.
